The scientific foundations of Vortex Wave Stimulation were established through independent academic research at the University of Birmingham.
Researchers went beyond conventional measures, using stable-isotope tracing, serial muscle biopsies, mass spectrometry, optical spectroscopy, ultrasound and electromyography to investigate what VWS was doing inside the human body from muscle protein synthesis to oxygen utilisation and neuromuscular activity.
The work brought together expertise across human physiology, mathematics and computer science and culminated in the first human physiological study of VWS, subsequently published in The Journal of Physiology.
